Philip D'Souza
Counsellor, Psychotherapist
GradDip Counselling & Psychotherapy, MACA, MCPCA
Philip is a counsellor psychotherapist who believes that mental well-being is the foundation of how individuals experience themselves, their relationships, and the world around them.
He provides a non-judgmental, holistic space for those navigating mild to complex mental health journeys - from anxiety and trauma to the unique challenges of neurodiversity (ADHD/ASD/BPD) and chronic illness.
Because no two stories are the same, his therapeutic approach relies on an integrative toolkit to support each client's specific needs.
During sessions, he may utilise a single method or a blend of evidence-based modalities, including:
- Somatic Approaches: Felt Sense Polyvagal Model and Interpersonal Neurobiology.
- Deep Inner Exploration: Process-Oriented Psychology and Parts Work.
- Action-Oriented Strategies: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
What to Expect: The First Session
Philip understands that taking the first step toward therapy can feel daunting. He ensures the initial meeting is a low-pressure space for mutual understanding. Generally, this is achieved by:
- 1. Establishing a Safe Container: Sessions begin by establishing a secure, confidential environment where clients can speak freely.
- 2. Mapping the Journey: Philip discusses what brings the client to therapy and their goals, listening through an integrative lens to see how their well-being impacts their environment and sense of self.
- 3. Collaborative Planning: Together, Philip and the client discuss which modalities might best serve their immediate needs and long-term recovery.
